The melon basket is named for the way it was carried—cradling something round and precious, held close to the body on the way home from the garden.

It is one of the most elegant forms in American folk basketry, shaped by generations of hands that understood that beauty and function were never meant to be separate. Lydia carries that heritage forward, a quiet vessel woven for the modern collector who values a home built with intention.

Brittany wove Lydia from rattan reed, by hand, start to finish—a process that honors the rhythm of the maker over the speed of the machine.

The God's eye anchoring the handle is not a mere embellishment; it's a structural element of the basket. Lydia is elegant and strong.

Lydia is sculptural enough to be displayed as art.

Her name is hers alone. It belongs to this specific weave and this specific moment in the studio. Once Lydia is adopted, her name retires into history.
