The Colors

Paintbrush Flower

20 ft - 1/4" flat-oval reed.

A light coral-salmon to brighten your work. Reminiscent of the paintbrush flowers lining the trails and the sky at sunset.

The color on the reed is mottled, and each piece has slight variations in color. 

Mountain Shadows

20 ft - 1/2" flat reed.

Mt Rainier stands high above the Wonderland Trail. When you look at the shadows and depths of the glaciers, the color that stands out most is deep blue.

Shaded Moss

20 ft - 1/4" flat-oval reed.

An abundance of mosses and lichens coat the forest floor, trees, and rocks in the forested sections of the trail. The greens are rich and varied. The overhanging trees cast a shadow over these brilliant plants, deepening the color, making their brilliance a secret treasure.

Evergreen Forest

A week on the trail, surrounded by huge trees, deep greens, and the scent of fir, hemlock, and pine needles dusting the trail, feels like a creative infusion and reset.

The Story

Backpacking the Wonderland Trail around Mount Rainier was one of those experiences that stays with you long after you’ve washed the trail dust off your boots. 

I still think about the scent of warm fir needles underfoot, lunches by small rivers where the water ran cold and clear, and the coral-orange sunsets that painted everything in gold. My new color collection for basketry reed grew out of those memories.

Each shade—mossy green, glacier blue, warm pink, deep green—connects to a moment on the trail: wildflowers by the path, alpine shadows across the mountain, the calm of evening at camp. 

Creating these colors felt like carrying a bit of that fresh mountain air home with me, and I hope they inspire that same sense of renewal and connection for you as you use them in your own work.
