Cotton and wool are two natural fibers with their own amazing properties—when the two are combined, the result is a wonderfully unique blend with all the advantages of each fiber. Cotton Fleece is spun with 80% pima cotton and 20% merino wool. It derives its strength and coolness from cotton, along with memory, bounce, and a touch of warmth from the wool. Cotton Fleece is cool enough to wear in any season, making it our most popular yarn for crocheters and knitters who live in warm climates. Cotton Fleece is easy to care for, making it a great choice for children’s and babies’ knits.

Cotton Fine is the lighter weight ‘little sister’ to Cotton Fleece – also a blend of 80% cotton, 20% wool but spun in a fingering weight. Cotton Fine is the perfect choice for lightweight garments and accessories, and has a wonderful soft feel for creating baby hats, mittens, and socks. This yarn can be worn comfortably next to the skin, even for those who are sensitive to the texture of wool.

Cotton Fleece and Cotton Fine are excellent weaving yarns—try them for handwoven blankets or a set of handwoven dish towels. Cotton Fine is available on half-pound cones for convenient warping. The color palette is unrivaled with our line-up of neutrals, pastels, and brights to choose from.

Brown Sheep Yarns are permanently moth proofed using a non-insecticide; from their FAQ:

"We use a non-insecticide chemical called Ecolan CEA to moth-proof our wool. It is added to the dye bath at the same time as the dyes and is “permanent” in the sense that it will not wash, rub, or dry clean off the wool. The treatment works as an insect resist agent by making the wool protein unpalatable to the wool moth larvae."
